Information we collect

When you book a call, scheduling is handled through our booking page at book.brasshelm.com, and the name, email, and notes you enter there are used to schedule and prepare for the call. A phone number is required on that form, because the call is a phone call and we call you at the number you provide. We use it to place the call and to reach you about that booking. There is also a separate SMS consent checkbox, unchecked by default and optional, and only people who check it will ever receive a text from us. If you contact us directly by email at cameron@brasshelm.com, we collect the information you choose to share, which typically includes your name, email address, and a short description of your technology stack and goals.

We also collect basic technical information your browser sends when you visit the site, such as IP address and user agent. We do not use tracking cookies or third party advertising tags. We use Umami for anonymous page view analytics, including click and scroll heat maps, hosted on our own servers. It does not use cookies and does not identify individual visitors. When you minimize the Grade Your Tech prompt, the site stores a small preference in your browser's local storage so the prompt stays minimized for 30 days.

How we use your information

We use the information you provide to schedule and run booked calls, answer your questions, and follow up about potential work. When you give us your email, we may look up business details about you and your company, such as your title and company size, so we are prepared for the call.

We do not sell your information. We do not rent it. We do not use it for advertising.

Service providers

We use a small number of third party services to run this business. Each sees only what it needs to. Most of them are based in the United States, so your information may be stored and processed there.

  • Cal.com handles the calendar booking. Your name, email, timezone, and booking details are stored there.
  • Anthropicpowers the qualification chatbot on the booking page. Your chat messages are sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. Anthropic does not train on API inputs or outputs by default.
  • Telnyx is the telecommunications carrier that delivers our SMS messages. Phone numbers are shared with Telnyx solely to deliver messages you have consented to receive.
  • Close is the CRM where contact and booking details are stored so we can prepare for and follow up on your inquiry.
  • Google Workspace handles the email account at cameron@brasshelm.com.
  • Google Cloud hosts the website. Standard web server logs are retained for operational purposes.
  • Umami provides anonymous page view analytics for the website, including click and scroll heat maps. It runs on our own servers, does not use cookies, and does not identify individual visitors.
  • Apollo is a business contact database. When you give us your email through the Grade Your Tech assessment or a booking, we may look you up there to fill in business details such as your title and company size. Apollo receives your name, email, and company for that lookup. We do not run Apollo tracking on this website.

Sharing your information

We do not sell, rent, share, or transfer your personal information, your mobile phone number, or your SMS opt-in information to any third party or affiliate for marketing, promotional, or any other purpose. Your consent to receive SMS messages from BrassHelm is not sold, shared, or transferred under any circumstances.

The only situations in which we may share personal information are:

  • With the service providers listed in the previous section, strictly to the extent each provider needs the information to deliver the service it provides to BrassHelm (for example, Cal.com handling the booking calendar, or Apollo filling in business details about a lead).
  • In the case of a business merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case the receiving entity will be bound by this policy.
  • When required by law, court order, or a valid request from law enforcement.
  • With your explicit consent.

SMS messaging

The only place we ask for a phone number is the booking form, where the number is required so we can call you at the time you booked. Providing it does not opt you in to anything. The SMS consent checkbox under it is separate, unchecked by default, and not required to book. Checking it is the only way to opt in to text messages, and if you leave it unchecked we will not text you. If you do opt in, we text you about that booking and nothing else. That means a booking confirmation, a reminder before your scheduled call, and a notice if the call is rescheduled or cancelled. We do not run an SMS marketing program and we do not use SMS for sales follow-up. SMS is sent by Better Harvests 28 Corp through Telnyx. Message frequency varies with your bookings. Message and data rates may apply.

Reply STOP at any time to opt out. Reply HELP for help. Mobile information, including phone numbers and SMS opt-in data, is never shared with third parties or affiliates for any purpose. Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Retention

We keep booking and communication records for as long as needed to maintain the working relationship, respond to follow-up questions, and meet legal and tax obligations under Canadian federal and Alberta provincial law. You can ask us to delete your information at any time by emailing cameron@brasshelm.com or by writing to 28 Corp. at 1122 3 St SE, Ste 1906-498, Calgary AB T2G 1H7, Canada.

Your rights

You can ask us what information we have about you, correct it, or delete it. You can also unsubscribe from SMS at any time by replying STOP, or from email by replying and asking to be removed. If you are in Canada, you have rights under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and any applicable provincial privacy laws (including Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act). If we cannot resolve a privacy concern to your satisfaction, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

BrassHelm is a business to business consultancy. The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and post the new version on this page.
